Half Way There: The Blood Wars 2010 story so far..
Attention Warriors of Rohan!
4 areas have now experience the Blood Wars. The Regionals have now reached the half Way mark, and through all the battles, trash talking, and victories…one man witness it all: Krieger.
Read on to find out the inside story behind each concluded Blood War regionals and insights to what the future holds for the warriors campaigning to become the next Blood Wars Champion and Krieger’s own thoughts about his travels.
Doing something again for the first time….
Last year 2009, the Blood Wars was born. The Brainchild of Krieger and the GM team which aspired to pit Rohan Players in tournament play. Everything was going ok, the stage was set until a virus disrupted all of it (AH1N1, bwiset!). With only 3 areas done (Pampanga, Baguio, and Cebu) the Blood Wars was put into sudden stop. This year, the War has reached a milestone: The 4th regionals area done. Let’s hope that this time…we can see it until the end.
BW Bulacan 2010: SFG draws first Blood
BW (Blood Wars) Bulacan launched the 2010 tournament with a bang. 8 teams and a LOT more enthusiasts gather to witness the first campaign to LU LIVE 2010. The event had problems as usual, we had to transfer shops and I had to deal with a hang over coming into the event (I swore never to do that again LOL). All in all, it happened as expected: Lots of trash talking until 12MN…eventually Team SFG grabbed the title…and they will set the standards of what a Blood Wars Finalist team should be.
One thing that struck me as a surprise though..the two finalists from last year were present during BW Bulacan…and the other teams didn’t even show any sign of intimidation..it may well be the trend on the coming regionals.
BW Batangas: Sira na friendship nila mga guys LOL!
Batangas. Mainet. Trapik sa SLEX. Walang aircon yung van namin. Turbo-broiled GM’s for lunch.
BW Batangas was short but sweet. 3 teams round robin, the usual Raffle and guess what? POWER INTERRUPTION! This was the first event that the rotating brown outs affected. Thankfully, the power was only out for an hour. Enough time to finish the raffle and continue the matches.
It was a familiar sight. Team Rai and MM were in. Oh and a team called MissPakissUlitPlease. LOL
Two Blood Wars finalist and a team just shooting for 3rd place AT LEAST. But they didn’t. They beat both teams. They won. BOOM. One step closer to the title.
“So whats with the title Krieger?” You ask? There was this one time during a match between Team Rai and MissPaKiss when Billy (you know what you said! XD) shouted that exact same line as the title. LOL
Eto yung si Raxa at si Nico nag sisigawan na sa gilid…parang mag-susuntukan na. “Sira na friendship nila mga guys! FF na!!”
LOL. Classic.
BW Baguio: A Krieger’s got to do what a Krieger’s got to do.
Ok, now this may not be the first time, but I try to avoid doing it. People who see me run events know that If there’s one thing I absolutely must follow, it’s the rules. As head judge, I always have a final say on things…I always have the last judgment call. When the situation calls for it…make no mistake: I will make my decision whether people like it or not.
I love the feeling of a good PVP tournament and to witness players compete, shout and talk trash during a match is music to my ears. To disqualify a team…is always the LAST option. I’d avoid it If I can..but I will do it if necessary.
“Player din ako” is what I always say. I know what a player goes through when they go to IRL events…I know how it feels to have your efforts wasted, and I know how bad it feels when you get DQ’ed. In the end..I gave them the chance to get back in the tournament, but the odds were against them, or so the other teams thought. And eventually I disqualified them according to the rules. It was a hard situation to call..and I hope that I will not be put in that situation again.
To the teams of MM and Sicarment…they recall that day as “DQ Baguio”, not really the moment I want to remember BW Baguio with. I don’t regret what I’ve done, I’ll stand by my decision…but I have to admit that I don’t like the way things turned out for them.
As usual, a team from Manila took the flag at Baguio. 2nd placers last year…now a Blood Wars Champion team: Rai (now known as netoPi@ Rai) was victorious as Baguio. This may well be their first few steps back to the main event at Live.
BW Cebu: There is no talk like Trash Talk
Language Barrier. Two words that I always consider when going to the southern reaches of the country. Cebu had no exceptions.
It was a common sight to see me and Wahrsager talking to players in Cebu. Usually the conversation will start with “GM, may tanong po ako”, then everything goes “south” as they say. I couldn’t understand a thing they were saying 0_0
I’ve been to Cebu almost 10 times during my Level Up! event travels. Most of them were way back in my RF days. Heck, some people still call me “GM Varnie” short for Varhanite…infamously known as “The Man Who Bans” my former RF persona/GM.
So how do we get by understanding Cebuanos even though we have a language barrier? Simple: “Gaming Passion” . When the signal is given and the sparks fly…whether it was RF back then or Rohan now…when people start shouting and yelling at each other,no matter what language…you know what TRASH TALKING IS, you feel it in your gut.
I often found myself smiling during the matches…I don’t have a clear grasp of the language…but we shared the same passion. The same drive to compete. The same desire to kick the living day lights out of the opposing team and say bad things about their mothers after. Then you just know. It’s a fight, Trash talk ON!
And that moment, you belong. You are part of something fun, a part of the community. You understand everything.
I’ll come back to Cebu. If only for the players there. And besides, aXXo still owes me a bottle of Red Horse. LOL
4 down….4 more to go. Bring it on.
Let me paint a clear picture of what the Blood Wars Semis will look like: (Actually it’s more like “post a picture” but you get the idea)
Teams are more hungrier this year. No longer intimidated by big name Guilds. They just want to fight. This ought to be good >:D.
As always…skeds could be viewed here.
Next stop will be Bacolod, Then CDO. July marks the BW dates for Davao and the one considered as “the” main BW event: Blood Wars Manila. Oh and I’ll be present in all of those events…so expect a lot more of the same Krieger. Well…sorta.
On behalf of the GM Team: Garrick, Wahrsager, Geheimnis, and BMBisdak, we hope that we see you at the next Rohan Blood Wars regionals.
See ya at the fields. Vengeance is always an option!
